TRAINING IN REGOLITH GEOLOGY AND GEOCHEMISTRY
Regolith

MANY EXPLORATION GEOSCIENTISTS NEED REGOLITH TRAINING

Geoscientists, who have had little or no exposure to the deeply weathered terrains of Australia and similar countries, find our regolith confusing and foreign.

Exploring within the right part of the regolith and sampling the most appropriate regolith materials is essential to effective exploration and even has some advantages over expensive pattern drilling. The key is understanding the regolith, its origins and limitations.

Dr Ian Robertson, has had extensive research experience in regolith geology with CSIRO. He has practical experience in mineral exploration in deeply weathered terrains, and offers desk-top and field-based training for Exploration Geoscientists in: -

• Understanding weathering processes, regolith geology and the recognition of different regolith materials

• Application of landform geology to provide an inventory of available regolith materials

• Application of the most suitable regolith materials to an exploration sampling program, including prospecting beneath transported overburden

• Integrating these into an efficient sampling strategy on a regional, district or prospect scale

• Designing a suitable and cost-effective sample preparation and analytical scheme with QAQC

• Processing geochemical and other data to reveal follow-up targets

This training can be conducted either in Perth or on site.
