The ex-HMAS Swan

© Copyright Ian Robertson

Rather than being scrapped after decommissioning, the frigate, the ex-HMAS Swan, was deliberately sunk as a dive wreck in 30 m of water at the west end of Geographe Bay near Dunsborough, Western Australia. Numerous holes were cut in the sides of the ship, allowing easy access. This is a relatively safe wreck to dive but, recently, parts of the interior has deteriorated, requiring caution. My favorate spot is the magazine. There is plenty of life around, on, under and within the wreck. These pictures were taken on film with a Nikonos V and subsequently scanned.
